Celebrating the Completion of the Orest Myckan Legacy Build

Yesterday, we gathered in a spirit of joy and deep gratitude to celebrate a significant milestone—the completion of the Orest Myckan Legacy Build, presented by REALTORS® Community Foundation Edmonton and Area. This Home Celebration Ceremony was more than just the final chapter of an incredible build; it was a moment to reflect on the impact that safe, affordable housing has on the lives of families in our community.

The event was truly special, as the families who now call these houses their homes shared their heartfelt stories. These homes represent more than just bricks and mortar—they symbolize new beginnings, stability, and hope for the future.

Hearing from Our Speakers

In the video below, you’ll hear from some of the key figures who played a vital role in bringing this build to life. Andy England, Vice Chair of Habitat Edmonton, Brandon Lunty, MLA for Leduc-Beaumont, and Melinda Chisholm, President of the REALTORS® Community Foundation, each took a moment to reflect on the contributions and efforts that made this build possible. Their words were a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together with a shared purpose.

But perhaps the most impactful moments came from the two new homeowners themselves. Their voices were filled with emotion as they spoke about how these homes have transformed their lives. It’s in these moments that we truly see the life-changing power of homeownership—a safe, stable place to call home that provides the foundation for a better future.

Looking Ahead: Building the Future Together

While the Orest Myckan Legacy Build has come to a close, this isn’t the end—it’s just the beginning. We have more builds on the horizon in Edmonton and Leduc, and with your help, we can continue to change the lives of families in need.
