ReStore West sits on 106 Avenue just east of 170 Street, a few minutes north of Mayfield Common and next door to the Westlink Service Canada Centre. It is the largest of the six Habitat for Humanity Edmonton ReStores, and shoppers who have been to the other locations notice the difference the moment they walk in.
The store serves west Edmonton and the surrounding communities: Jasper Place, Glenwood, Canora, Britannia Youngstown, High Park, Meadowlark, Terra Losa, Callingwood and Rio Terrace, along with contractors and renovators working anywhere along the 170 Street corridor.
With 19,162 square feet indoors and roughly 10,000 square feet of yard retail space, ReStore West has both the biggest footprint and the most unusual layout in the group, including a greenhouse that is now full of product rather than plants. The building has had several lives before this one. Parts of it were once a Caterpillar and Bandag retread operation, and the five overhead door tracks still visible on the main sales floor are left over from the heavy equipment that used to move through it. The yard along 107 Avenue was later home to Golden Acres Greenhouse, and after that to a musical instrument shop, before ReStore West opened here in 2013.
Every purchase here does two things at once. It gives quality new and used furniture, cabinetry, tools and building materials a second life, and it funds Habitat for Humanity Edmonton’s work creating affordable homeownership opportunities for local individuals and families.
ReStore West is open seven days a week, including Sundays, from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Give yourself time here. The store is spread across several linked spaces, each with its own character: indoor showroom areas for furniture, appliances, lighting, and flooring; a covered section where cabinetry, doors, sinks, and fixtures are laid out; and an outdoor lumber yard stocked with building supplies year-round and patio furniture through the warmer months. Lumber is the strongest seller at this location, and furniture is a close second; there is a great deal of it on the floor at any given time.
There is plenty of parking at the front of the store, with two entrances. Because everything is either donated or a palette purchase, the sales floor changes constantly; our regular customers come through weekly to see what new items have arrived. Renovators and contractors come for cabinet doors, paint, baseboards, tile and light fixtures; others come to browse for furniture and one-of-a-kind houseware finds.
Staff here are used to helping shoppers hunt down a specific piece and load awkward or heavy items into a vehicle.
