Métis families homeownership program
Habitat for Humanity Edmonton entered into a partnership with the Métis Capital Housing Corporation in 2012 to build 10 homes for Métis families. Homes in this program become available as families sell their homes back to Habitat and move on from the program.
The mortgage model in this program differs greatly from the current Habitat homeownership program. Here is how the Métis program works:
- One person in the household must have a current Métis status
- One adult in the home must be employed full-time
- No down payment required
- No interest
- Gross annual household income between $45,000 – $75,000
- Affordable monthly payments based on income
