Since 2023, Servus has shown its commitment to giving back — not just in words, but in action. Their support helps us create a welcoming, rewarding, and empowering experience for every volunteer who walks through our doors.

And now, we’re excited to share that Habitat Edmonton has two new volunteer opportunities available. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to put your skills and energy to work, these roles could be the perfect fit.


1. Construction Assistants

Are you an experienced carpenter or tradesperson looking to make a meaningful impact? Join Habitat Edmonton’s team of Construction Assistants. You’ll work alongside Habitat staff and fellow professionals to complete renovations for our BuyBack Program. Once renovated to modern standards, these homes are sold to new Habitat homeowners.

What you’ll do:

  • Flooring installation
  • Cabinetry
  • Drywall repair
  • Painting
  • Fixture replacement
  • Landscaping
  • And more

Why this role is a great fit:

  • Perfect for skilled, motivated individuals who are comfortable with tools, physical work, and collaboration

Qualifications:

  • Over the age of 18
  • Available 2 days per week
  • Relevant past construction experience & resume
  • Able to work in a diverse, safety-conscious environment
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in the safe use of power tools
  • Physically fit and able to stand/walk for extended periods
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds independently
  • Able to understand and speak English well (LINC 5 or Intermediate English)

2. Volunteer Swampers & Warehouse Assistants

If logistics is more your style, consider joining Habitat Edmonton as a Volunteer Swamper or Warehouse Assistant. This role supports our Distribution Center and all six ReStores.

You’ll help load, unload, and organize donated items — both at our facilities and at donor residences. By making sure items are handled safely and respectfully, you’ll help ensure that more donations find a second life in our ReStores.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist with donation loading/unloading
  • Organize items at ReStores and the Distribution Center
  • Support ReStore North operations as needed
  • Keep vehicles, warehouses, and parking lots clean and organized

  • Ensures more items can be reused instead of going to waste

Requirements:

  • Over the age of 18
  • Able to understand and speak English well (LINC 5 or Intermediate English)
  • Able to work in a diverse environment
  • Friendly, professional, and customer-service oriented
  • Physically fit (able to lift 50+ lbs and perform tasks like bending, squatting, standing)
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions
  • CSA-approved safety boots (limited pairs available to borrow)
  • Khaki or denim pants/shorts to the knee (no athletic wear)
  • Available for full-day shifts
  • Friendly, respectful, team-oriented attitude
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions
