Postal strike puts vital donations at risk

On Friday, November 15, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers initiated a national strike. As a result, mail and parcel delivery services have come to a halt, and many Canada Post locations are now closed.

Direct mail remains one of our most vital fundraising tools, especially during the giving season — a critical time when a significant portion of our annual revenue is raised. This year, the postal strike poses a serious risk to our ability to secure essential donations for 2024. The impact of this disruption comes at a challenging time for our sector, with rising operating costs, increased demand for services, and ongoing labour and volunteer shortages.

During this period, we encourage our donors to continue showing their generous support by giving online, over the phone, or in person. Every donation helps us provide strength, stability, and self-reliance to those who need it most. We deeply appreciate your understanding and continued generosity during this time. Your support means the world to us and the communities we serve — thank you for standing with Habitat Edmonton. Together, we can continue building brighter futures.
