Volunteering with Habitat!
With the help of volunteers from every skill level and background, we have built over 195 homes! In fact, in 2011, more than volunteers contributed 11,000 shifts of over 85,000 volunteer hours!
You can help us continue our progress by volunteering your time at one of our current build projects. Our build sites are open Tuesday to Saturday from January until mid-December (excluding holidays).
FAQ
- All skill levels are welcome! Beginners to trades people!
- All safety equipment and tools are provided by Habitat for Humanity.
- Our minimum commitment is one shift.
- Volunteers must be a minimum of 16 years old.
- Shifts are 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Tuesdays through Saturdays.
Minimum Requirements
Construction volunteers must have the following physical abilities
- Willingness and ability to learn new skills and apply new skills to different situations
- Follow the instructions of our Site Supervisor independently
- Ability to climb stairs comfortably
- Adequate vision to do detailed work
- Use of conversational English
- Ability to lift and carry at least 15 pounds

INTERFAITH BUILD
Habitat for Humanity is hosting our first ever Interfaith Build. In conjunction with the Capital Region Interfaith Housing Initiative, our intent is to recruit 5 volunteers per day for a total of 110 volunteers from various faith communities in May 2012. Read more...
